Family dentistry

Oral health is of utmost importance than you might realize. Your oral health offers signs about your overall wellness. Visiting a dentist regularly can help more than giving an attractive smile, as it can tell your dentist a lot about your overall health, including whether you are at risk of any serious health condition.

Dental examination

A thorough dental examination is done during the first dental visit. Few radiographs may be taken during the dental examination. The dentist will check for plaque accumulation, cavities, gum diseases, etc. It also involves head and neck examination to check for any abnormalities of the salivary glands, jawbones and TMJ. After a thorough examination, your dentist will discuss with you the necessary treatment plan.

Oral cleaning

Oral prophylaxis is a preventive procedure. Oral prophylaxis or cleaning is done in order to remove the plaque that has been accumulated on the teeth. It helps in reducing gum infection and maintaining oral health.

Partial and complete dentures

Removable partial denture:A removable partial denture replaces a few missing teeth. It can be removed from the mouth and replaced by the patient himself without professional assistance.

Fixed partial denture: Fixed partial dentures are fixed or cemented on to the remaining natural teeth. They are non-removable.

Complete dentures are removable dental prostheses that replace all the teeth and other oral structures of the upper and the lower jaw.

Indications for a complete denture are as follows:

  • Extensive bone loss and periodontal disease
  • Formation of abscesses
  • Edentulous patients
  • Minor gum treatment
  • Gum treatments such as scaling, root planing help in reducing gum inflammation. These procedures must be done once in 6 months.
  • Extractions
  • Extraction is the surgical removal of the whole tooth from the socket in the jawbone. Extractions will be painless as local anesthesia will be administered before starting the procedure.

When will you require a tooth extraction?

  • Tooth with deep caries that can't be restored
  • Severe abrasion of the tooth
  • Teeth with acute or chronic infection
  • Teeth causing chronic irritation to soft tissues
  • Impacted teeth
  • Cosmetic procedures

Cosmetic dentistry is a method of professional oral care that focuses on improving the appearance of your mouth, teeth and smile.

  • Teeth whitening:It is a non-invasive method of lightening dark or discolored teeth.
  • Veneers: Veneers are thin, bonded restorations that restore the frontal surface of anterior teeth.
  • Gum lift: A gum lift is used to treat gums which have been affected due to gum diseases. Receding of gums is reversed and the gums are brought back to optimal health.
  • Inlays and onlays: Inlays and onlays are fillings which are fabricated in a laboratory and then bonded to the teeth with the help of dental cement.
  • Implants:A dental implant is an artificial fixture which is placed surgically into the jawbone to substitute the missing tooth and its roots
  • Composite Bonding:Here, a composite material is used to fill the cavities and cracks, which is later hardened with the help of high-intensity light. It gives a natural appearance as the filling looks exactly like enamel.
